Teaching
I am currently a visiting assistant professor at the College of Wooster, where I am teaching Introduction to Sociology, Research Methods, and Social Problems.
From 2006-2010, I was an Instructional Technology Fellow at the Macaulay Honors College of CUNY. I worked with faculty and students to develop creative pedagogical uses of technology, including developing course weblogs, wikis, and multimedia presentations. (I built the website you’re currently looking at with WordPress, a free web platform I’ve used in many classes.) I assisted in a sequence of four interdisciplinary courses that looked at cultural production, science and public health, immigration, and public policy: The Arts in New York City, Science and Technology in New York, The Peopling of New York, and Shaping the Future of New York.
Prior to this position, I was an adjunct instructor at Hunter College and FIT, where I taught Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Sex and Gender, and Social Research Methods.
My statement of teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations, and sample course materials are available by request.
